
Colonel Kevin Vanyo is currently serving as the Military Deputy to the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Center (CCDC) Ground Vehicle Systems Center Director. Responsible for top level strategic planning and analysis while ensuring over 1800 Department of the Army civilians, assigned military personnel, industry and academia partners are synchronized to support the Chief of Staff of the Army (CSA) priorities and the Army S&T objectives.
Col. Vanyo was commissioned as an Armor officer upon graduation from the State University of New York (SUNY, Geneseo) in 1990. He completed the Armor Officer Basic Course followed by service in a variety of Armor Branch command and staff positions. During a tour in Korea, he served as a Tank Platoon Leader in A Company, 1st Battalion/72nd Armor Regiment (M1IP Abrams Tanks). In Baumholder, Germany, he served as a Tank Platoon Leader (M1A1 Abrams), Tank Company Executive Officer and Battalion Adjutant with the 2nd Battalion/68th Armor Regiment.
He then attended the Armor Officer Advanced Course and was subsequently assigned to the 1st Squadron, 16th Cavalry Regiment, where he served as the Squadron Maintenance Officer, and then Commander, Headquarters and Headquarters Troop. Upon completion of command in 1998, Col. Vanyo was assessed into the Army Acquisition Corps.
Col. Vanyo’s acquisition assignments include: Combat Development Action Officer and Subject Matter Expert, U.S./United Kingdom International Cooperative Development Program, Future Scout and Cavalry System (FSCS/TRACER); Assistant Product Manager for the Stryker Commander’s Vehicle and the Stryker Infantry Carrier Vehicle; Army Technology Objective Manager, Kinetic Energy Active Protection System Program; Uniformed Army Science Advisor, U.S. Army Europe (USAREUR); Chief, Operational Test and Evaluation Ground Branch, U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM); and Product Manager for the Integrated Personnel and Pay System-Army, Increment II (IPPS-A, INC II).
Colonel Vanyo holds a B.S. degree in Management Science, SUNY-Geneseo; M.S. degree in Industrial Engineering, University of Louisville; and an M.B.A. from the University of Louisville. He is Defense Acquisition University (DAU) Level III-certified in Program Management and Engineering; Level II-certified in Test and Evaluation and is an Army Acquisition Corps member. His military education and training includes: the Armor Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Scout Platoon Leaders Course and the Army Command and General Staff College. His medals and decorations include: the Combat Action Badge, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Army Meritorious Service Medal with Seven Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters and other United States military decorations.
