
Alfred J. Grein currently serves as the Acting Director for the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Ground Vehicle Systems Center. Prior to this position, he was the center’s executive director for Research & Technology Integration; and earlier, was the chief of staff and deputy executive director for the Center for Systems Integration.
Grein is responsible for delivering advanced technology solutions for a diverse portfolio of ground system programs, including powertrain development and integration, thermal management systems, energy storage, non-primary power systems and track and suspension.
Grein was previously assigned as the associate director for the Ground Vehicle Systems Center analytics team, which provides government and industry with physics-based modeling and simulation performance analysis. Prior to that, Grein executed responsibilities as a deputy associate director for the center’s Ground Systems Survivability directorate.
Grein served honorably as an active duty Army officer for 22 years. He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy and earned his master’s degree in industrial and manufacturing engineering from Pennsylvania State University. Prior to retirement, he served as product manager for Medium Tactical Vehicles. Grein is a veteran of Desert Shield/Storm, where he was decorated with the Bronze Star with a “V” Device.
