Mr. Jeffrey Jaster was recently appointed the (Acting) Executive Director for Development Command (DEVCOM), Ground Vehicle System Center (GVSC), Research, Technology and Integration (RTI) business group in Detroit Arsenal, Warren, Michigan. In this new role, Jeff is responsible for the strategic leadership and oversight of Ground Vehicle related Science and Technology (S&T) product/programs as well as service teams engaged in research, development and/or engineering (RD&E). Jeff’s span of responsibility includes the mentorship and management of over 750 personnel across the RTI enterprise which is comprised of Ground Vehicle Modernization Technologies (GVMT), Modeling, Simulation and Software (MS2) and the Special Projects Office (SPO).
Previous to his appointment, Jeff Jaster was the Deputy Executive Director (DXD) for the MS2 organization where he led Advanced Concepts, Analytics, Immersive Simulation and Software Engineering Center competencies.
Jeff served as the Associate Director for the System Simulation & Test (SST) organization in GVSC’s System Integration and Engineering Business Area where he managed the vehicle simulation, test, and evaluation services including both physical and virtual laboratory testing activities and associates. The cornerstones of SST are the Ground Vehicle Simulation Laboratory (GVSL) located in Building 215 on the Detroit Arsenal, GVSC’s Crew Augmentation competency, and the Soldier Experimentation and Gaming and Analysis (SEGA) activity.
Jeff began his career in government service working with the Vetronics Simulation Facility where he was focused on systems administration, electronic architecture and software development. Jeff served as, the Acting Associate Director for Intelligent Ground Systems, the Deputy Associate Director for Unmanned Systems, the Deputy Director for the Joint Center for Robotics (JCR), the GVSC Robotics Systems Advocate, the Manager of the Near Autonomous Unmanned Systems Army Technology Objective (ATO), as well as a Team Leader. In these roles he was responsible for the main robotics integration and human machine interface programs that were executed at GVSC and was active in the unmanned systems arena for
over 10 years.
In 2011, Jeff transitioned to support the Ground System Survivability (GSS) group in GVSC’s RTI Business Area as the Assistant Associate Director and the Deputy Associate Director for the Hit and Kill Avoidance Group. In this role Jeff managed the Ballistic Protection, Blast Mitigation, Hit & Kill Avoidance, along with Platform Light Weighting programs and associates. As the Deputy Associate Director for the Hit and Kill Avoidance he was responsible for managing the Active Protection, Fire Suppression/Protection and Laser Protection portfolios.
Jeff holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with a Computer Science Option from Michigan Technological University, and has 28 years of government service.
